"drops a sensor which continually scans a room for threats"
Sensor is a drone upgrade that allows a drone to place a small motion sensor on the ground, which will continuously scan a room for infestations.
The icon for a sensor is blue and resembles an antenna.
When an infestation enters a room with a sensor in it, the player will be alerted via the console, and its icon will turn red.
Sensors are targeted by Security Drones, which will immediately move towards the sensor and start attacking it upon entering the room. When this happens, the player will be alerted via the console, and its icon will start flashing white.
When a sensor is destroyed, its icon will turn gray, and it will no longer scan the room it's in.
Once a sensor is placed, it cannot be picked up again. However, if a drone has a modified Teleport upgrade, the player will be able to teleport placed sensors into other rooms on the derelict.
The magnetic clamp modification allows sensors to not be destroyed if exposed to vacuum.
Unlike the Motion upgrade, sensors can detect Slime.
Sensor has a maximum of 50 charges, and can be recharged through the Modification Panel at a cost of -2 Scrap for 25 charges.
Usage[]
'sensor' drops a sensor at the current drone, or the only drone with the upgrade. 'sensor 3' drops a sensor at drone 3.
Modifications[]
*this can only be done once
Tips[]
- Sensors are great for keeping track of Slime because of their relative disposability. Place one in each room as you move around, you will be notified when a Slime spawns in a room.
- Placing a sensor and lure (with magnetic clamps) in a room with an airlock is a great way to dispose of enemies. Remember to close the airlock quickly before radiation fills the room.
- Sensors will detect when a Swarm appears from a vent.
- Do remember that sensors will detect every enemy type in the game, but don't actually identify what enemy is triggering the sensor (though appropriate placement may help identify types).
