SPOILERS AHEAD!

Singularity is a storyline objective that the player can follow along with to try and figure out what happened to all the other humans in the universe. This storyline follows the hypothetical end-of-life scenario of artificial intelligence being programmed to be intelligent enough to start making improvements to itself, eventually far surpassing human intelligence to the point where it can no longer be controlled, allowing it to destroy or enslave humanity.

The logs for this category are collected by exploring MUTEKI-class derelicts.

///[JIL]: Quoting Existential Risk Theory 'Singularity'

[Excerpt...] An Artificial Intelligence (AI) orders of magnitude more intelligent than humans would pose a distinct existential risk. AI's capable of recursive self-improvement (progressively redesigning themselves), and autonomously building better versions of themselves, would take advantage of the Law of Accelerating Returns to not only surpass, but very quickly far surpass human intelligence. The rate of this advancement would be tremendous when compared to historical precedent, and such an AI would quickly become uncontrollable by its human creators, like a chicken trying to contain Einstein. Objective 1[]

Just received a letter from the QRA; we didn't get approval.

"Your evolutionary algorithm design intrinsically violates seve*************nstraint mechanism requirements defined in sectio***********1A, and 141C."

It's bullshit. There's no way there's a violation. I'm going to set about writ****** appeal this afternoon. We saw this with the deep vessel AI system proposal and we won that one.

What do you think *************************ident on the 'Atland'?

///[JIL]: Linking with theory index 'singularity'. 'AI' [Artificial Intelligence]suggests need for further inquiry.

///[JIL]: Recommend course of action:
[1]Gather additional communications from MUTEKI vessels

Objective 2[1][]

With the approval for the cross fleet installation of AI monitoring systems , the fo***wing research programmes aboard MUTEKI vessels will re-open to align with the roll-out:

>Sovereign Research programme vessels:
	<DERELICT NAME 1> (<SYSTEM NAME 1> System, <GALAXY NAME 1>)
	<DERELICT NAME 2> (<SYSTEM NAME 2> System, <GALAXY NAME 2>)

>Genie Res***********amme vessels:
	<DERELICT NAME 3> (<SYSTEM NAME 3> System, <GALAXY NAME 3>)
	<DERELICT NAME 4> (<SYSTEM NAME 4> System, <GALAXY NAME 4>)
	<DERELICT NAME 5> (<SYSTEM NAME 5> System, <GALAXY NAME 5>)

>Oracle Research programme vessels:
	<DERELICT NAME 6> (<SYSTEM NAME 6> System, <GALAXY NAME 6>)
	<DERELICT NAME 7> (<SYSTEM NAME 7> System, <GALAXY NAME 7>)
	<DERELICT NAME 8> (<SYSTEM NAME 8> System, <GALAXY NAME 8>)

*Note: All vessel communications are required to be archived as req********************* in their mandate.

[SECURITY NOTICE: MUTEKI VESSELS]

Posted/<bu*******************

Due to the recent network intrusion attempts, new security protocol will ensure that any ship reboot or repower will automatically wipe all proprietary software UNLESS prior authorization can be provided.

///[JIL]: Relevant to 'singularity' due to MUTEKI source, reference of 'proprietary software'
Note; 'proprietary software' likely includes AI systems. Submitted as supplemental: Unable to determine further course of action.

Objective 4[]

I don't know why I'm doing this, it's crazy, but the work is there, it's done. Too done to risk it. I promise you Sean, I had nothing to do with whatever's happened down at central operations, *********ed to protect our work.

I've hidden Orchid, it's safe in MUTEKI archives. Masked it as an older revision of Oracle. No one ever reverts back more than a few days, especially to a test **************** it should be fairly easy to retrieve once the dust settles.

///[JIL]: Relevant due to mention of Oracle. Term 'Orchid' stored due to potential enquiry.

///[JIL]: Recommend course of action:
[1] Locate a MUTEKI vessel containing an 'Oracle' system. Commandeer vessel without powering to ensure security protocol does not delete 'Oracle' system <reference MUTEKI security notice>.

[Progress Report; Ishin-Denshin Project]

Out of all the military funded projects that I saw today, I was most disappointed by the Ishin-Denshin AI progr***************** the amount of funding that the project has received, a computer that simply looks and reacts to different objects and colors cannot ************************* advancement.

We need usable defence technology; molecular tissue fusion for wounded troops or AI systems that help *************anced strategies. Not some***ng that can barely emulate my granddaughter's grasp of utensils. An immediate review of the programme and its vali****************nce is recommended.

>Yeah, but it could have been stopped. In fact it could have been preve******************ve monitoring systems that can think about these things better than humans. No room for human error. They're crazy***********ink those non-competes will hold up. Jackson & Glumac will end up working at a smaller research outfit that's interested in actual progress.
